Introduction to Aeroelasticity using Calculix & OpenFOAM
Introduction to Aeroelasticity using CalculiX & OpenFOAM course aims to develop a solid theoretical background for aeroelastic phenomena and transform that theoretical knowledge into practical engineering workflows using open-source simulation tools. The course starts with an overview of static aeroelasticity, covering static divergence and control reversal via two-degree-of-freedom typical section models. Then, dynamic flutter mechanisms, unsteady aerodynamic formulations including Theodorsen and Wagner functions, and structural modal dynamics are introduced along with their governing physics. Next, computational fluid-structure interaction (FSI) fundamentals—such as moving mesh kinematics (ALE), conservative interface mapping (RBF), and implicit coupling via the preCICE library—are presented in the context of OpenFOAM (CFD) and CalculiX (FEA). Finally, a complete non-linear panel flutter benchmark is conducted to demonstrate multi-solver execution and post-processing of limit cycle oscillations (LCO), phase portraits, and FFT spectra. At the end of this course, students will learn both the analytical foundations of aeroelasticity and the practical aspects of setting up high-fidelity FSI simulations using CalculiX and OpenFOAM.

Advanced Sand Casting Simulation using VoF based CFD Modelling in OpenFOAM
Fluid flow is a complex phenomenon which involves the transport of mass momentum, energy and species under the influence of the velocity, pressure gradients, thermal effects and external sources. The analysis becomes more challenging when the fluid exists in the different phases and there is a continuous interaction between the phases through their interface where the mass, momentum and energy can be exchanged. Such flows are referred to as Multiphase flows.
Special numerical techniques are required to analyze these complex phase interaction in multiphase flows. CFD (Computational fluid Dynamics) provides a numerical framework for modelling these complex flow phenomenon by solving conservation equations at computational level. By CFD we can understand the physics involved in the flow process and optimize the flow behavior by modifying the operating conditions, material properties and geometry before conducting the actual physical process.
Sand casting is one of the most widely used manufacturing processes for producing metal components due to its cost-effectiveness, versatility, and ability to manufacture components of various sizes and complexities. Sand casting process is a type of multiphase flow in which molten metal poured into a mold cavity displaces the preoccupied air inside the cavity to the surrounding mould which is eventually vented out through the pores of the solid sand mould to the atmosphere. The casting process is also a practical example of multiregion process in which the cavity and the sand mould interact through the internal boundary by momentum and heat transfer during filling and solidification.
In this course we will develop a CFD workflow for simulating sand casting process using Openfoam an opensource software. We will investigate the underlying flow physics, analyze the parameters that influence the casting process and predicts the defects that could possibly occur such as incomplete filling, air entrapment, cold shut etc. Ultimately, this course aims to demonstrate how a real-world sand casting process can be transformed into a virtual CFD model, allowing engineers to understand, predict, and optimise casting performance before committing to physical production.

Ship Hydrostatics and Stability
BB Simtech Engineering & Academy introduces its second course.
Following the successful launch of our first training, we are continuing without a break and are excited to release our new course: Ship Hydrostatics and Stability.
"Ship Hydrostatics and Stability is a comprehensive 12-lecture course designed for naval architects and engineering students, effectively blending theoretical knowledge with practical applications.
The curriculum begins with fundamental definitions of ship geometry, followed by the calculation and definition of hydrostatic parameters. The course concludes by building a solid framework based on the theoretical principles of both transverse and longitudinal stability, ultimately aiming to provide students with the underlying theoretical background required for complex stability calculations."

Fundamental Mathematics of OpenFOAM
This Fundamental Mathematics of OpenFOAM course bridges the gap between theoretical CFD knowledge and real-world implementation, offering 15 lectures that transform mathematical concepts into practical engineering solutions. Starting from fundamental vector calculus and conservation equations, the course progressively builds through finite volume discretization, boundary conditions, linear system solvers, turbulence modeling, and pressure-velocity coupling algorithms (SIMPLE, PISO, PIMPLE), ending with a complete OpenFOAM case setup. Unlike traditional CFD courses that treat OpenFOAM as a black box, this unique program allows students to understand the "why" behind every numerical choice, debug convergence issues with confidence, and select appropriate models and schemes for their specific applications.
